Common questions
Answers without a ticket
Where are my appliance records stored?
Records and copied attachments are stored in the app’s local container on your device. Appliance Log does not use automatic cloud sync, a developer-run account, or a records server.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Appliance Log has no app account or password. Your Apple Account is used by Apple only if you buy or restore the lifetime unlock through the App Store.
How do I move records to a new device?
Create a complete backup on the old device, save the `.appliancelogbackup` file somewhere you control, then choose Restore Backup in Settings on the new device. A complete backup includes records plus copied photos and documents. Keep the old copy until you have verified the restored record and attachment counts.
Does Appliance Log sync automatically?
No. Version 1.0 is intentionally local only. A complete backup is a separate point-in-time file that you explicitly create, store, and restore. Saving that file to iCloud Drive or another provider does not turn on automatic sync; the provider’s privacy and security practices apply to the file.
Why did a reminder not appear?
Open iOS Settings, find Appliance Log, and confirm Notifications are allowed. Then confirm the reminder is enabled and scheduled in the future. Focus modes, Notification Summary, device settings, or system notification limits can affect how and when an alert is shown.
How do I attach a receipt or manual?
Open an appliance and use its Documents or Attachments section to choose a photo or file. Access is requested only when you use that feature. If a file will not open, confirm the original is available and try importing a local copy.
Can I export my information?
Yes. Export is available in the free workflow. From an appliance, create a human-readable PDF. From Settings, create one CSV covering all appliances or a complete versioned backup containing all records and copied attachments, then choose where to save or share it through the system sheet.
How does the free version work?
You can keep two appliances and use the complete core workflow, including documents, service history, reminders, export, and backup. A one-time non-consumable purchase removes the appliance-count limit. There is no subscription.
How do I restore my lifetime unlock?
Open the Upgrade screen or app settings and select Restore Purchases while signed into the Apple Account that made the purchase. You should never need to buy the same non-consumable again on that account. If it still does not restore, include the exact error text when contacting support—do not send payment-card information.
What happens to my records if a purchase is unavailable?
Your existing records remain readable, editable, and exportable. The lifetime unlock controls creation beyond the two-appliance free limit; it should never hold existing data hostage.
How do I delete my information?
Delete individual records inside the app. Deleting Appliance Log removes its local records and copied attachments from that device. Export or back up anything you want to keep first, and separately delete any backup files you previously saved elsewhere.
Does Appliance Log provide repair or warranty advice?
No. It stores records and reminders that you enter. Follow manufacturer safety instructions and use a qualified professional for diagnosis, repair, installation, or warranty questions.
Before contacting support
A safe troubleshooting sequence
- Do not delete the app if it contains records that are not backed up.
- Create an export or complete backup if the app still opens.
- Confirm available device storage and, when exporting, available space at the destination you selected.
- Confirm Appliance Log’s notification, photo, and file permissions match the feature you are using.
- Close and reopen the app, then restart the device.
- Install the latest publicly available Appliance Log and iOS updates.
- If the issue continues, contact support with reproduction steps and screenshots that contain no private records.
